The first time I encountered the Northern Territory, I felt the weight of something older than anything I had known. The red earth, the silence, the dot patterns that carry centuries of story in every mark.
I had the privilege of meeting Aboriginal artists from a local tribe, a brief encounter, but one that left a permanent mark. There is a generosity in the way they share their visual language, and a responsibility in how you carry it forward. This painting is my response to that moment: kangaroos in motion, ochre earth, ceremonial patterns radiating outward, painted with deep respect for what I was shown.
I painted what I felt, not what I saw.
